At Black Kids in Action (BKIA), our mission is to empower Black youth, students, and families by creating opportunities that inspire pride, growth, and leadership.Since our founding, we’ve become a vibrant part of the Windsor-Essex community, using creativity, mentorship, and education to shape confident, resilient young people. Through our signature programs, from youth bike rides and summer camps to Black History Month productions and Math competitions, we provide safe, supportive spaces where Black identity is celebrated and potential is unleashed.
Our impact goes beyond activities. It’s seen in the mentorship bonds that inspire young leaders, the laughter shared during community events, and the confidence built on stage and in classrooms. BKIA’s work is about helping youth see themselves in greatness, and families see what’s possible when they’re supported, valued, and heard.
Each event, workshop, and initiative is a reflection of our core belief: when we uplift one, we uplift all. Together with our partners, volunteers, and community members, BKIA continues to build a legacy of empowerment, shaping a future where every Black child can dream boldly and achieve fully.

CSC MICRO GRANT GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT: VOICE OF IMPACT

BKIA’s work continues to inspire and uplift Black youth and families throughout our community. Each story reflects a dream supported, a talent nurtured, and a future empowered.
At Black Kids in Action (BKIA), we believe in the transformative power of community , a power that grows stronger when individuals come together to uplift, inspire, and lead with purpose. Our story is one of unity, empowerment, and hope. It’s a story that continues to be written by the many volunteers, mentors, and supporters who dedicate their time and energy to building a brighter future for Black youth and families across Windsor-Essex.
BKIA was founded on the belief that when we create spaces where Black children feel seen, celebrated, and supported, we unlock potential that can transform not only individual lives but entire communities. What started as a small initiative to engage youth through creative expression has evolved into a thriving organization making a measurable impact in education, arts, mentorship, and cultural development.
Every year, BKIA reaches hundreds of children and families through a range of programs designed to nurture the mind, body, and spirit. From our annual bike rides that promote health, unity, and connection, to our Black History Month performances that amplify culture through dance, drama, and dialogue, each program reflects the passion and dedication of our community.
When you sponsor BKIA, you’re investing directly in programs that change lives. Your support helps fund youth mentorship, educational competitions, summer camps, and cultural showcases that celebrate Black excellence and identity. It ensures that every young person who walks through our doors can access safe spaces, leadership opportunities, and resources that nurture their potential.
At Black Kids in Action (BKIA), we believe that real change happens when community and opportunity come together. Our mission is to empower Black youth, students, and families through mentorship, education, and creative expression, but we can’t do it alone. With your partnership as a sponsor, we can expand our reach, deepen our impact, and continue creating spaces where Black children feel seen, supported, and inspired to lead.
BKIA’s events and initiatives reach hundreds of families across Windsor-Essex each year , and your sponsorship helps make that possible. Whether you’re a local business, a community organization, or an individual who believes in empowering the next generation, your contribution strengthens our collective impact.

Black Kids in Action (BKIA) is proud to be a recipient of the Canada Service Corps (CSC) Micro-Grant, a national initiative that supports youth-led projects making meaningful change in their communities.
