Our Achievements
OVER THE YEARS, BLACK KIDS IN ACTION (BKIA) HAS MADE A LASTING IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF BLACK YOUTHS, AND 2023 WAS A YEAR THAT PARTICULARLY STOOD OUT. IT WAS A YEAR OF GROWTH, NEW MILESTONES, AND UNFORGETTABLE MOMENTS.
Here’s a sneak peek into what we accomplished:
117 Black youths gained valuable knowledge through our point-based alternative education program, helping them stay engaged and motivated in their studies.
We awarded university scholarships to several Black youths, giving them the support they needed to pursue higher education.
36 youths participated in our Black History Month production, where they showcased their talents, explored arts and culture, and learned new skills.
7 students qualified for the Grade 11 & 12 Urban Math Competition, with 3 students emerging as winners and earning university scholarships.
We introduced our Career Initiative Sessions, which impacted over 40 youths in just 8 months. These sessions helped boost their confidence, improve their decision-making skills, and connect them to internships, job placements, and other opportunities.
We successfully organized two fundraisers — our Soccer Tournament and Black History Month Production — bringing the community together to support our mission.
Each of these achievements reflects our ongoing commitment to helping Black youths, and as we move forward, we remain dedicated to creating more opportunities, nurturing more talent, and making an even bigger impact.
