In every crowd is a child with a big but silent dream just waiting for someone to say, “You can do it.”
Since its inception, Black Kids in Action (BKIA) has been a safe space where Black youths can express themselves, build confidence, and develop their unique talents.
We believe every Black child carries the potential to lead, create, and thrive, they just need the right environment to shine. That's why we've supported over 782 youths in the past five years, helping them find their voice through programs that encourage self-expression, creativity, and leadership.
Our mission is simple: to create a world where Black children feel seen, heard, and empowered to become their best selves. Because every child has a big dream, and sometimes, all they need is a little nudge to believe they can reach it.
We're here to be that nudge, to remind them they can be whatever they choose to be, without fear.
What we do is exceptional
Helping Black children actualize their dreams.

The Challenge
For many Black children today, staying connected to their roots feels harder than ever.
The stories, traditions, and values that once shaped identities are fading. Many grow up without a true sense of identity, unsure of their history, and their place in the world.
As this cultural gap widens, self-doubt, insecurity, and a loss of pride begin to take its place, leaving many in a struggle to embrace their own brilliance, confidence, and creativity.
What we stand for
Identity
We believe every child should know their roots, embrace their culture, and take pride in who they are.
Expression
Creativity is powerful. We provide safe spaces where children can express themselves freely through our different programs and initiatives.
Empowerment
We equip Black children with the confidence to lead, the courage to speak up, and the belief that their dreams are valid.
Community
It takes a village to raise a Black child. We’re committed to building that village, a supportive space where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
Legacy
We honor Black history, celebrate Black excellence, and inspire the next generation to carry that torch forward.
Our Approach
Creatuve Expression
We use the performing arts like Dance, Drama, and Dialogue and other competitions to give children a voice. Through storytelling and performance, they explore their identity, build confidence, and connect with their roots.
Mentorship & Leadership
We create opportunities for Black children to learn from mentors who inspire them to lead boldly and dream fearlessly.
Cultural Education
By weaving Black history and heritage into everything we do, we help children rediscover their identity and take pride in who they are.
Safe Spaces
We provide a supportive environment where Black children can grow, express themselves without judgment, and build lasting friendships.

"BKIA has transformed my granddaughter's life."
“This year’s performance was a testament to the power of creativity. It delivered a heartfelt message and showcased incredible growth in the children. I’m especially grateful to Mrs. Tosin and Mrs. Marcia for their unwavering dedication. Since joining BKIA, my granddaughter’s behavior and academic performance have improved remarkably—she now consistently earns A’s and B’s. I was moved to tears and hugged Mrs. Tosin in gratitude. Thank you for this life-changing platform!”

"An outstanding production!"
“This year’s production was nothing short of spectacular. The children’s confidence and passion lit up the stage. Even the youngest performers were impressive! Time management was excellent, and the costumes were lovely. A small suggestion—adding elastic support to suspenders would help. Thank you, BKIA, for nurturing values and virtue in our children, and for giving Rehoboth the platform to shine!”
