WHAT'S THE CSC YOUTH MICRO-GRANT PROGRAM?

The CSC Micro Grant is designed to provide financial support to Black youth-led initiatives, small businesses, and community projects. By offering funding and resources, this program empowers young entrepreneurs and leaders to bring their ideas to life, create positive change in their communities, and build economic independence.

WHAT ARE THE
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES?

  • The Canada Service Corps (CSC) program aims to create, promote, and facilitate access to volunteer service opportunities that are meaningful to youth, including Indigenous youth and under-served youth, or both. The program supports youth in designing and implementing youth-led projects that address a community need. Youth are provided the opportunity to gain the knowledge, skills, tools, and supports they need to successfully complete their projects.

  • The Micro-grants stream funds youth-serving organizations to deliver supports by redistributing one-time cash payments, up to a maximum of $5,000, to youth (aged 15 to 30) to carry out innovative short-term service projects. Projects will help youth participants carry out youth-led community service projects and enable them to develop skills such as leadership, planning and budgeting.

With support from the CSC Micro-Grant, young leaders have turned ideas into action, inspiring peers, strengthening families, and creating spaces of belonging and pride.

Application & Mentorship Journey

  • All applications will be made online.

  • Screening and review process will take approximately 4 to 7 weeks.

  • You may also be required to attend an individual Interview Session to elaborate on your project outline in more detail.

  • Once decisions are made, successful applicant will be contacted by assigned mentor for further onboarding. Once onboarded, your mentor will work with you throughout your project.

  • Once your application has been approved and the grant funds have been received, you are required to confirm receipt via email.

  • You would also have at least 1 peer meeting where you get to meet with other youths like yourselves and discuss your project progress.

  • Your mentor is a great assert towards the success of your project, so it is important that you keep constant communication with them.

  • Failure to meet the obligations outlined herein, including attending mentorship sessions, acknowledging BKIA and CSC, and using grant funds as agreed, will constitute default under our signed agreement and may result in repayment of funds, loss of future funding eligibility, and removal from the program.
